Haha! Its not normally that quick! ;D I was reading the rules at work when a collegue saw them when he walked pass. We occasionally play boardgames during the lunch hour and he decided he wouldn't mind giving the "Nelson game" a go. (I don't know where he got that from??) We used the boardroom table and actually spent the whole time playing. (Using excel for dice as I didn't have any polyhedrals with me!!) One thing to note when recieving feedback, especially when it includes suggestions, is be wary. For an example: The larger counter may not be the best solution. Instead you might try a clearer font for the text, different colors for the crosses and adding the facing indicater to resolve the issues.
Thanks for continuing with the expansion!

Well the updated rules are excellent. If you haven't seen them they are available at PaperWorlds All of the issues I raised for the first version, have been addressed in one way or another. And the expansion is easy to use with the main rules, resulting in really enjoyable games!!
I recommend using figures, (I am using "Pirates of the Spanish Main" ships) although the counters are still fun and an excellent way to try the rules out.

One thing that seems to be missing from the expansion is the points cost for the new 'Movement' and 'Hits' attributes. I have just been playing with equal fleets, but it would be good to have more choice?! Those are some really good pictures! And thanks for such a rave review on the Geek! As to points ... I'm not a fan of points systems, I much prefer the scenario based asymetrical games. I always play for fun, not to win, so for me playing with only half the number of units of my opponent is just as much fun as having twice as many. I dont really have the enthusiasm to start crunching those numbers. You could always post a points document of your own on the geek and earn a few GG's.

Thanks for the reply! I don't mind playing without points, but most of my opponents do not. However you have made me want to re-enact some historical battles now!!
I have created a quick document, but it starts from scratch rather than using the existing point system. (This is because of the unusual movement rules and Hitpoints!)
Base Die cost is the same as the Rule book eg. D8 =24pts
Movement cost uses the following formulae: ((2 x Downwind) + Crosswind + Upwind) x 2 eg. 3/2/1 =18pts
Range cost is equal to the range e.g R:4 = 4pts
Hits cost is equal to the Number of Hits, Squared with one exception: Hits:1 = 0pts eg. Hits: 3 = 9pts
Attribute costs are the same as the rules. I have also added costs for Heated shot (4), Carronades(6) and Galleys(6).
If no-one objects I will post the document on BGG!

Woohoo! When I heard you mention doing a point system Shaun, FNH's rules I was quite keen on it. I had thought, 'Hey with a point system you could use all those great ships from the old fantasy naval project...WAIT I never downloaded them from PW.com...DOH!' So if anyone has those great ships let me know!

Alas I have none of them Okay, how do I get them to you? I have a zip file made up containing Shaun's Slaver fleet, Shaun's Orc fleet, Shaun's Norse ships, Shaun's Kingdom fleet, and One-Monk's Demon fleet. Were you interested in any of the 2D ships? Eric
