This is a great concept and some of the ideas for bringing it to life are excellent!
I really love the horses. By just adding some bits and pieces here and there (not to mention different colors) you could end up with a wide variety of figures. Some rider templates would probably help more people put them to use!

Here you go! One rider template to use with the horses. Download from my folder to get the file. And a sample to get you going! Have fun! Taking my time looking at the sample pic I think the guy is a little bit too big. But that should not be a problem for you, just scale him down some...

Some ideas I just had for "How the West Was Plunged". Basically how the characters might be defined and some general ideas.
Fightin’ – Ability to fight with fists or hand weapons Shootin’ – Ability to use ranged weapons accurately Ridin’ – Horsemanship and herding cattle (Lariats would be governed by the Fighting skill though), Quick Drawin’ – Ability to get the drop on others, and avoid others getting the drop on you, functions like Wit. Carousin’ – Ability to drink, gamble, etc, saloon related activities, talk your way out of a tight spot. Duckin’ out – Move, general dexterity Takin’ it – Resistance, Life Three R’s: Like magic in a sense, to have it, you have to start with it, if you have it, you can then purchase a Profession, sort of like a school of magic, something like, Doctor, Scientist, Banker, etc. You can then do things you couldn’t otherwise do. For Indians, this could be Magic, like a Shaman.
Combat would be shooting heavy, with little likelihood of healing and armor being an extreme rarity. The key would be shooting your enemies before they can shoot you, or avoiding the fight altogether. Dodging would not generally be an option. When shooting starts you will probably want to find cover.
Experience would make you more notorious, either get you a badge, or a wanted poster, maybe even a dime novel written about you. Actual skill advancement would be relatively slow compared to standard DP, though the more notorious you are, the more people will be frightened by you and/or respect you.

I have drawn a few things for this but haven't coloured many. I did play around with a horse but drew a slightly different one. I still went for Bryn's cute look but adapted some bits. www.flickr.com/photos/31222610@N02/sets/72157607872568923/I am drawing a dismounted version for every mounted one. I know the guy's hat is a bit much but I think it fits the comical idea of the west rather than a realistic one Paul (shadowolf)

I have the Shadowolf AWESOME Western Town files if anyone is still looking. I fell in love with Shadowolf's work years ago and found his western bldgs. They are professional and fantastic. With his permission I would be happy to pass them on. They are too good to not be available. I really like this Cowpoke Plungin Idea. Don't let it die.
