My brother and I were playing DP the other day, and just to make sure we got this right, when someone tried to disarm a trap, if they failed it was sprung.
If you are tying to find a trap, and you fail the roll, can you stand there and keep looking for one? OR, you get on shot if you don't see one then you "assume" there isn't one? I want to make sure we are doing it right.
Also, if you are running a Quest like Orcish Raiders, and it has DIF 2 doors, if it is locked or trapped, then you are stuck?
Thanks in advance for clarifying this. I figure these are simple, and I am just over-complicating things.

This is one of the reasons we need an update . . . ;D Most people put a limit of one trap search per hero. So you can search multiple times, just with different Heroes. If you fail the roll, then you didn't discover a trap . . . but there might be one there . . . you just don't know. You don't have to "assume" there is no trap until all Heroes have failed to find one. (But you still need to roll to see if there is one there!!) One of the skills of Party creation is making sure you can open locked doors and chests for the Quests you will play. If you are going up against DIF 2 then you should have one character with stats of 2 or 3 in those areas at least. If you are using the "one Hero once" rule then you might want to have a few with the required stats

Also, I am not sure if this is covered anywhere, but there was one thing that seemded to be a reoccuring theme... EVERYTIME my brother would roll to see what the trap was, he would roll a "6" and sure enough, the ceiling would start coming down. SO, IF this happens and there is no other way out, are you trapped? You know, as I was typing this, I vaguely remember something about the doors off of the Entrance Chamber not being trapped... That put a bit of a kink in our dungeons. We had to leave and start a new one... I guess I forgot that until now... [disregard this. I will leave it here as a reminder to people]. ALSO, I saw where there was the Random Event: Monster Guard. I knew the rules touched on this, but I couldn't find anything. When does a Random Event take place (other than RANDOMLY). How we did it was if we discovered a hallway, then we rolled a D6. On a roll of 5+, the hall was empty. If we rolled less, then we would roll on the Monster Table, and ignore any chests (because there wouldn't be any chest in the hallway). Ok... I will try to think of other question I may have. We did have a great time... two 40-something guys laughing and carrying-on. The only time it wasn't very fun was when we opened a door to see 4 Orcs and 3 Goblins standing around the Sarcophagus! When we would go to risk something, I would tell my brother, "Well, if you die we can put you in the Sarcophagus." Then he would point to the room full of Orcs and we would laugh. It was the most fun I had in a LONG time!

I'm glad you're having fun! You roll on the Random Event Chart the moment a Hero steps into a Hallway (only once, for the first Hero who entered). You can choose not to go in, so you don't have to roll. Rule of thumb: Room = Encounter Chart Hall = Random Event Chart I'm not sure this is a rule (but now that you mention it, be sure it will be discussed in the next version, one way or another), but if you get trapped, you could search for a secret door: make a WIT check on every tile, till you find one. The difficulty depends on the dungeon level (1+1/2dungeon level, round up). If successful, place a door at the center of a wall without a door. Just an idea.

I think the best solution for the falling ceiling trap would be to have it state that it can't trap players in. If springing that trap would result in the players being trapped in, then the trap should be rerolled.

All good suggestions! Thanks! I think "fun" was an understatement. My wife would enter the room and just shake her head at us.
