It has been a while since I looked at this site. I thought I remembered someone posting that they were working on a program that allowed paperless play. Did that project die?
I can't explain why but I have this strong desire to write code, but lack ideas. I was thinking that since there are such good rules for this game, and it is relevantly straight forward, it would be less challenging then trying to make up my own rules.
I doubt I could make anything very fancy as it would probably be more like a MUD (if anyone remembers the old text based games, or is geeky enough to play them just to see the story line.)
I really want to play this game but haven't been able to.
Maybe if make a program I might be able to play it without paper & with out others. that & I don't think I could find someone to play this game with me even if printed & made all the pieces.

If or when I try to play the game is this the best overview of the game???
I wanted to check my basic understanding.
I know that on page 15 it has a flow chart but this is the way I have logiced it.
1.) find door type (unlocked/locked/great/special door) 1a.) lock door >> pick lock >> is door trapped >> check for damage/avoid >> go through door.
1b) open door if not locked >> is door trapped >> check for damage/avoid >> go through door.
2.) see what the room is? (hallway, room, special, etc.) 3) see what is in the room (monsters/chest/both) >> 3a) if are monsters check, if the monsters can ambush? 4) heros attack monsters >> can monsters fight back? >> repeat / other actions like heal 4a) can heros run away/avoid? 5.) if treasure chest 5a) >> check if chest check is locked? >> try to unlock >>check if trapped >> check for damage/avoid >> open chest
5b) if unlocked >>check if trapped >> check for damage/avoid >> open chest
6) >> spend xp, buy armor/weapons/potions/make spells >> move on to next door (repeat) 7) if going back to prior room check if has monster patrol? >> if yes see step 3. (except no opt for new chest. & no boss monsters.)

Not necessarily died...
There was a topic about a program like Vassal that would enable you to "play" on the computer... I didn't use it much, I confess, but as far as I remember, nothing was automated, you'd have to roll dice and look up tables, write down stats and such (maybe there was a character sheet but you'd still have to type your stats and damage, etc).
I've done a couple of experiments with a program called TableSmith, which rolls on tables for you. You can do really complex stuff with it. Very nice. But it was for an older version of DP and somewhere along the line I stopped working on it.
But I decided to give this another go. Since I don't know how to code android, I went with good-old-excel. It's probably not what you are looking for, but I've coded The Troll Lair quest's charts and automated its results. It's not perfect, nor does it cover every situation, but it works! Check the attachment.
Best of all: I can open it on my phone! One click and it builds the room! It really speeds up the game!
^_^
As you noted, there are some flowcharts at the back of the book. I'm still updating them (mostly formatting it to make it read better), here's what they look now.
-------------------------------------
GAME ROUND SUMMARY
Begin game Round 1. Hero Turn (for each Hero) 1. 1. start of Turn effects 1. 2. perform 2 actions, player's choice 1. 2. 1. nothing 1. 2. 2. move 1. 2. 3. attack 1. 2. 4. use item 1. 2. 5. spell / ability 1. 2. 6. use item 1. 2. 7. search 1. 2. 8. disarm 1. 2. 9. unlock 1. 3. end of Turn effects 1. 4. pass play to next Hero, until all have taken their turn 2. If you haven't dealt with a possible trap, roll on the corresponding Trap Chart and automatically trigger its effects. 2. Is it Locked? 2. 1. You can try to Unlock it. If that doesn't help, you can Bash it open. 2. 2. You can also use a Key if you have any. 3. Is it Unlocked? 3. 1. You can open it safely, as part of your movement. 4. Is it a Door? 4. 1. Begin Construction Phase 5. Is it a Chest? 5. 1. Roll on the Treasure Chart

CONSTRUCTION PHASE 1. Did you open a Great Door? 1. 1. Roll on the Unique Location Chart and place the matching Tile 1. 2. Use the Description to place Monsters, Chests and other items on the Tile 2. Did you open a Normal Door? 2. 1. Roll on the Location Chart and place the matching tile 2. 2. Roll on the Doorway Chart for each doorway and place the matching door markers 2. 3. Roll on the Monster Awareness Chart, end the Construction Phase and resume game accordingly. 3. End Construction Phase
----------------------------------------
SEARCH FOR TRAPS
Make a WIT check, with a difficulty according to the Doorway or Chest Chart.
* Success: Roll on the corresponding Trap Chart to reveal it. If there is a trap, it is not triggered and you can try to Disarm it. If that trap is triggered later, you and all affected Heroes get an extra dice to resist its damage or effects.
* Failure: You believe there isn't a trap, and cannot try to search again. Note that just because you couldn't find anything, doesn't mean it's safe... * Fumble: Regardless of success or failure, if there is a trap, it is triggered. Roll on the Trap Chart, and resolve it immediately. Note that if you Fumble a successful search, you still get the extra dice to resist its effect."
DISARM TRAPS
Make the appropriate check, according to the Door/Trap Chart.
*Success: The trap is removed safely.
* Failure: Difficulty to disarm increases by +1. If the new difficulty becomes greater than the disarming Hero's stat, then the trap triggers. Otherwise, the trap is not removed, but it's also not triggered. Hero can try again with another Action, but with the increased difficulty.
* Fumble: The trap is triggered. Since the trap was already known, the Heroes get the bonus dice to resist its effect.
UNLOCK
Make a DEX check, with a difficulty according to what you rolled on the Doorway or Chest Chart.
* Success: The door/chest opens!
* Failure: You weren't able to open the object. The difficulty to unlock increases by +1. If the new difficulty becomes greater than the Hero's DEX, then the lock breaks and it can only be bashed open.
*Fumble: You have broken the lock. The door/chest can only be Bashed open.
BASH IT OPEN
Make an attack roll. Multiple Heroes can try, adding their ATK dice. In a single blow, the door/chest must sustain an amount of damage equal to twice the difficulty listed on the Doorway or Chest Chart. Bashing makes noise, increasing Monster's detection range to 4 Tiles. * Success: The object breaks down. Broken doors cannot be closed again.
* Failure: Heroes may try again next round.
* Fumble: If it still succeeds, the Fumble has no effect. If the check fails, increase the ""life"" of the door/chest by 1 (cumulative) for further attempts. Fumbles when Bashing a Chest always destroy its contents.

That really helps.
I let it make a few rooms & have some questions. ----------- can you explain from the “charts” page it shows: d6 Monsters (#) 2 Ghoblin Daggers (d6) Ghoblin Spears (2)
------------- Then from the "Card" page, I rolled till it shows the location shows: Monsters (Sleeping): Ghoblin Daggers (d6) Ghoblin Spears (2) I don't see anything about direction monster is facing. Also I don't understand how many monsters are in the room.
Also this room shows 4 doors but it doesn't show where the doors are.
------------ I made a different room.
it shows monsters & chest. but the X’s on the "arrangement" area is less then the amount of just one monster & six chest. (there are seven X’s, by my count there should be 8 total) Unless I’m miss understanding: Room 6x6 (2 doors)
Monsters (Alert): Orcs (d6) & Ghoblin Daggers (d6)
Doors: 1 Unlocked Chests: 1 Locked (dif 1) 2 Locked (dif 1) 3 Unlocked 4 Locked (dif 1) 5 Unlocked 6 Locked (dif 1)

Ah, that's because it's still an experiment! Like I said, the spreadsheet does not cover all situations... The arrangement tables for instance, they don't work according to what you actually roll on the monster/chest charts - they just mark some random squares on the grid. If you run out of squares, roll again. It doesn't show facing because, well, I don't care much for that (and aside from a couple of special abilities or variant rules, it doesn't do much), but I suppose it would be easy to set it up on a digital medium. It also doesn't account for in-game modifiers, like the +1 on Monster Awareness for fighting next to an unopened door. As for the number of Monsters, when the "card" shows "Ghoblin Daggers (d6) Ghoblin Spears (2)" then you must, separately, roll 1d6 for the number of Goblin Daggers, and then add 2 Spears to the group. Coding all possibilities into the "card" would become a nightmare, because I won't be distilling the entries from the original tables in order to easily make/convert other quests. Thanks for the app, but amazon doesn't work on Brazil yet. :/ "We're sorry. You are not eligible to purchase this app due to geographical restrictions." And really? US$ 25,00 per month to upload an app to the Google Store? o.0 I knew there was a fee, but I feel sorry for the coders now...

Well if you want to try it you can download the install BattleTracker.apk file for androids. but this style is unsigned & so you have adjust your settings to "allow for unknown sources" www.filedropper.com/battletrackerOh also file dropper only lets the link last like 48-72 hours. (I think it may only be 24hr.) -------------- update ---------------- you can't down load that to you ph it seems or it failed for me. you can download to pc & email to yourself by gmail. or plug ph to pc & copy (I have never done that so I don't know where to store it) I have gmailed the file to & opened in gmail & it installs right away.

I am used to doing vb code in excel. At one time I had a working html editor in excel 2k. then they changed all the code styles in office 2k3 & I didn't feel like recoding.
but this is the only code I was able to find in the document
------------- Rem Attribute VBA_ModuleType=VBAModule Option VBASupport 1 Sub Update() ' update spreadsheet to re-calculate values Calculate End Sub
----------------- I did notice that there were some formulas in some cells =IF(OR($Arrangement.F6,$Arrangement.N6,$Arrangement.F16,$Arrangement.N16,$Arrangement.F26,$Arrangement.N26,$Arrangement.F36,$Arrangement.N36),"x","")
-- and some =VLOOKUP(INT(RAND()*6)+1,$CHARTS.A68:B74,2,1)

did you say that the excel file was old or the TTL 3.5 has changed?
the ttl book I downloaded (like 3 days ago) only has 1 Orcs (D4) 2 Orcs (4) 3 Ghoblins (2) & Orc (1) 4 Ghoblins (D4) & Orcs (2) 5 Ghoblins (D6) & Orcs (D4) 6 Ghoblins (6) & Orcs (D4) -------- but the xls has 1 Ghoblin Daggers (d4) 2 Ghoblin Daggers (d6) Ghoblin Spears (2) 3 Orcs (d6) & Ghoblin Daggers (d6) 4 Snitches (4) 5 Orcs (6) & Ghoblin Snitches (2) 6 Orcs (4), Ghoblin Spears (4) & Snitches (4)
================ I would enjoy the more variety.
also what does the "Ghoblin Daggers (d6)" mean, compared to the "Ghoblin Spears (2)"? I would guess it is the amount but the "d" makes me think dice but then why doesn't the other one have it?

Oh, you're using v3.5! We are now on playtesting stage for the v4! Check the stickied topic on the DP forum for the new files! Check them out. There are a couple of changes that would make everything in the xls clearer. Sorry, I should have said something As for the monsters... * Ghoblin Daggers (d6): you roll 1d6 and find that many "Ghoblin Daggers" * Ghoblin Spears (2): you find exactly 2 (no variance, just 2) "Ghoblin Spears" There's not a lot of code in the xls (I didn't even know how to do that in Excel before this file), it's mostly formulas. And a lot of it could be streamlined still.

I want to check.
Does something like a "T Intersection" or "corner", count as a hallway?
(I sort of think it should count as a hallway.)

yes, it does. straight passages, corners, T and X intersections are all considered "hallways" and trigger Random Events, rather than Encounters.

I am about 90% done with writing the Adventure creator. It is based on 3.1 rules. I could post the executable jar file here if anyone wants a peek. I wrote it in java. I plan to start on the game client in a feww weeks. But I wanted to get Oversoul's blessing before I went any further. I didn't to waste my time if they didn't want me to do this. If I am allowed to publish, then v 2.0 would be a reskin, and 3.0 would include some 3D views (as if you did print the counters, etc) anyhow, just wanted to see if there was any interest in it ... Here's a screen shot of the monster creator... Attachments:
