All the great stuff PJ has come up with ahs really got me thinking and I came up with some stuff. The language really got me going on this and I wanted to contribute.
Doodleglyphs
The pygmies do not have an actual written language but they have something close. Doodleglyphs are a short series of pictures common to all pygmies in the Homelands. each doodleglyph represents either a thing, a place, or something important. Pygmies often draw these on rocks and trees to convey information to other pygmies. Directions to food, water, or villages. Warnings about dangers ahead and so forth.
Dangers of the Homelands
Stingertails
These fierce insects are native to the Gettinlost. They range in size from small to larger than a pygmy. They have hard outer shells, and ten legs, the front two equiped with claws. They get their name from the deadly venom filled stinger no the end of their long tails. In a fight they drive this stinger into the defender filling it with venom. Pygmies for the most part avoid stingertails. But their venom has been found to have a great medicinal quality in small amounts mixed with booberry juice. Occassionally a group of hunters will seek out a giant stingertail and attempt to kill it and bring back its stinger to the village bonerattler.
Octofish
These large eight tentacled monsters live deep in Lake Washafishy. Their favorite food is mantafish, their favorite dessert is pygmy. Occasionally these seamonsters will rise to shallow water and try to attack a water pygmy. Occassionally a water pygmy will try and attack an octofish. The ink of an octofish is highly prized for a purple dye. One of the only sources of purple in the Homelands. Also the pygmy that kills an octofish gets a lot of fame!
