I did a "Worms" board game a while back...
I been thinking that a mod to the FOW rules could turn that board game into a 3D stand up environment.
A couple of design thought off the top of my head.
All Worms as D6. Card driven mechanic for weapon selection . Differn't weapons have differn't attributes, Bazooka = D10 Indirect Fire Stand ups for Worms, crates, some terrain...
Whadyafink?

I thought the same thing when I first read your worm post at PW.com. What did you have in mind for minis, cartoon worms, with weapons strapped to them?

Off the cuff thinking again...
Standups of cartoon worms, perhaps all armed with a subby. Teams can be told apart by helmet color.
Player draws a hand of say three weapon cards and can play one per turn, and draw a new one to replace it.
Would need Mine tokens, barrels you could stand a mini on, oh and rocks you could stand a mini on. Hmmm... still thinking...

Still available for free ( of course ) at www.paperworlds.com . Go to downloads and search for Worms. I just checked 115 downloads, wow! Talking of free... I just love the whole idea of the creative commons/gift culture thats running round the podcasting world at the moment. Its so loving.

Thanks POV, I got the game from Paper Worlds. I'll add some Worm minis to my "to do" list for next week.

Mr. Pov, were you thinking that the worms would have cartoon hands to hold their guns? That is what I am imagining. I'm glad I looked at the post again and noticed that you mentioned, "all armed with a subby." I'll draw the g.i. worms all with subbies. I was ready to draw the pistols, bats and shotguns. I'll probably still draw them and try to have some sketches posted on Paper Worlds soon.

As with most projects, it is progressing nicely in my mind. This is actually the first drawing project I have done in years. I have posted 5 sketches at Paper Worlds. (Sorry I didn't copy the addy.) Of course I have a very cartoony style. Now I don't think I'll be able to work on this much until Monday 'cause I have to spend the weekend with my family.
I did get all kinds of alternative worm setting ideas though. I even did a sketch for a Colonial/Empire style worm. But I didn't have much luck drawing the 3 corner hat or the musket. I want to do a Egyptian worm too and may get that sketch done this evening.
Oh yeah, the basic weapons of the worms reminded me of Grand Theft Auto 3. The bat, the shotgun, the bazooka.... Grand Theft Worms anyone? I think I need to go lay down? lol
