I appologize for not answering earlier, but here goes: I don't see myself as a rulesmith, so I will gently ignore your rules questions and ideas. But;
Welcome to the forum! ;D

Thanks! I played through my first quest yesterday good stuff! I have been messing around some more with the spells. I can't figure out how to edit an attachment so i guess I will just post my latest cut. My wife used th nature/earth tree and i used the shadow tree, both of us had MAG 5. She picked Life force and Brutal Strength, both spells seemed to play well. I used shadow posion and Drain Life, which in turn felt faily lack luster. I would have sucess with both spells however for shadow posion you have to make a resist roll and then an attack roll to find out if the spell actually does something, because its a dot this might make sence, maybe just drop the resist. Drain life would land but unless you get an additional success the spell does nothing... maybe should be changed so that you do 1 life of damage on the first 2 and then every additional 1or2 you do an additional damage. A couple other observations from the game play. It seems critical failures happen alot... was there a reason that the odds of success and failure were picked to be the same? Also there isn't an ability that boosts spell casting success like weapon combat or lock picking. I also find it interesting that you spend XP rather than gold to buy new spells, so you have to make a trade on leveling vs buying new spells. Attachments:

Nice Job! When I get done with the initial release of my cyberboard version, I'll add the spells you created to the list of spell cards I created. It will be a nice and welcome addition.

New to the site... stumbled on it from OneMonk's page as I was looking for paper minis to fill out my hero quest collection for models i didn't have... found DP and was interested. A lot of great stuff is happening around here! Welcome to the forum! Thanks for the feedback - all suggestions and comments are welcome. I really like what you have done with your spell list. Unfortunately I have only had a quick peruse through it but feel free to continue to post here. When I get organized, I can host completed work on the website! The idea behind spreading the spell schools out was to encourage getting multiple schools for your character. The combination of those schools would then define your character type. (Shadow/Necromancy - Warlock, Fire/Necromancy - Hellraiser, Shadow/Nature - Dark Priest etc.) I used shadow poison and Drain Life, which in turn felt fairly lack luster. I would have success with both spells however for shadow poison you have to make a resist roll and then an attack roll to find out if the spell actually does something, because its a dot this might make sense, maybe just drop the resist. Drain life would land but unless you get an additional success the spell does nothing... maybe should be changed so that you do 1 life of damage on the first 2 and then every additional 1or2 you do an additional damage. I really should apologize for the poor quality of the spell lists, as they stand. Thanks for taking the time to post your opinion. Yes, because the other possible result sets didn't happen very often or changed as characters increased levels. This gives a common starting point that can now be offset by other mechanics. Ideally there will be items that can assist with this. Some examples: The Arcane Circlet changes a single 1or 2 die result to a 3 when casting spells. | 50 Gold | The Robber Wristlet changes a single 1or 2 die result to a 3 when detecting traps. | 50 Gold | The Warrior Gauntlets change a single 1or 2 die result to a 3 when attacking. | 50 Gold | The Dexterity Gloves change a single 1or 2 die result to a 3 when dealing damage. | 50 Gold |
Feel free to try these items in your games.

Great! I'm glad life has given you an break.. even if it is short. I haven't messed with the spell list since my last post cause I wanted you all to be able to get a good look at it and make sure I wasn't going in a completely random direction.
