My wife was hit by a car just over twelve hours ago.
She was on a 'zebra crossing' and the car was slow(ish). But I was told it was a jeep, and those are a big hunks of metal. A lot of mass for a pedestrian to handle.
She had an army of guardian angles around her, though. Nothing broken, except cracked ribs and some disjointed toes. But she is a rainbow of bruises and they had to stitch up a gash in her face.
I am home to get a fresh set of clothes and feed the cat.
Things like this makes you think; Give your loved ones a hug extra every day, you never know how long time you got together.

Thanks, she is at home already.
She hurts all over, but we are lucky. I have to repeat that to remember it.

Glad she's ok; I was hit in a crosswalk once too...some drivers just don't seem to be able to pay attention, but it is a terrible scare when something like that happens.

Been a bit distracted to post here. Sorry 'bout that. She is getting better almost from day to day. She went back to work on half time a few days ago, to see if she can do it already. Her rib(s?) and foot are healing nicely and the bruises all over are getting - um - less pronounced. But she got a nasty hit on the head as well, so her latent epilepsy is acting up. We have doctors taking this seriously though, so I believe we will have that under control too. - As long as they get through the red tape... The 'little man' is very small in the machinery of a hospital. I am starting to relax too. It was a big scare... The taxi trip to the hospital was the longest 30 minutes of my life. And all these checking up and wait for results is a bit demanding. But it could have been very much worse. I try to remind myself every day. And we both work on staying happy. ;D

Glad to hear she's recovering well. Too bad about the epilepsy showing up again. My sister has that, but it's under control for 15 years (though she had a few isolated episodes), but I remember the time when it was not all too well. But you are right, it could have been much worse! I think it's good that you have such an optimistic view on the whole subject. It makes the recovery much quicker. Most people can't do that and stay trapped in self pity, which only makes things worse, imo. I hope all this ends soon! Cheers!

Thank you for all the nice words on the forum. ;D Guess what... The guy driving the car will come out of this scot free! He says one thing regarding the accident and we are saying another. And the neutral force that are meant to bring justice can do nothing. Why? Because the police forgot(!) to examine the area and they allowed the driver to drive home with the car. When they came to and tried to get some evidence 3-4 days(!) later ( after getting wifeys statement, not before) the road had been washed clean by snow, rain and traffic... And the - in my opinion - reckless driver had washed his car so they found nothing on it. Oh, and by the way... He just came to remember that he had had the dents from an earlier incident... So... It is word against word. The police says both versions can be true (at the same time? - my comment), so therefore there is no point in pursuing it further without any evidence.... Words fail me. Btw: Eva wanted me to add that we are still working on the happy bit.

That sounds crazy, doesn't a pedestrian always have right of way?? It's just totally outrageous that someone could be hit by a car and nothing happens to the driver..

That's a wild a crazy story and I'm sorry to hear it. Yeah, in the U.S. if a driver hits a pedestrian, the driver is always at fault.
I wish you, two, all the best in your recovery, physical and mental.

Hello, all! Just a quick blurb today, to let you know we are still around. We are going forward slowly. Eva's memory is coming back in bits and pieces. A fun thing is that she changed her craving for chocolate into cravings for licorice! The human brain is a fascinating thing.

Thanks. I realized my last comment might be a bit cryptic since I haven't been keeping you all updated. You see, The hit on the head was so hard it gave Eva a concussion so severe it was practically and in symptoms like a mild stroke. Eva have had to come to grips with the fact that she is changed, almost at a personality level. Very often we find new things that is different from before the accident. The cravings is just one example. - But a very telling one. On the whole we are still hopeful and positive. I am very glad you all still come in on the forum from time to time and for example keep DP alive.

To see the fantastic fighting spirit and general progress of Eva towards a normal life has kicked min somewhat in gear...
I asked Shaun to publish some .pdf's even though the rules are not totally done.
I have a new Mac Mini too, so I have a nice new toy to play with!. - Eva bought herself a Macbook Air.
We are aiming to get the home done - bookshelves and all, we put it on hold until she got better.
We are there now. ;D
