Hi guys. First time on the forums. I ended here looking for a nice dungeon crawler with progression that lets me use my large amount of minis and so far Dungeon Plungin´s has all i´m looking for and some more.
I downloaded the rulesets and played the first quest (the one with the kobolds, featuring my Super Dungeon Explore Kobolds and Vandella as the Imp). It was quite fun and challenging (My rogue died on the first room so my tank needed to take all those spike balls in the face for the rest of the dungeon. He died honorably fighting the imp while the Magician and Cleric lived to see another day)
After that and looking at the quests i decided to make my own to fit my miniatures range. I already gave stats to most of them on a basis of comparison with the monster manual, still i wonder about encounter compositions on each level.
Do you have any guidelines for determining level on monster creation? I saw the monster manual and it doesn´t specify a level for the monsters so i wonder what kind of party can take on the dragon´s 13 atk + 13 def.
The orcs for example, have quite some high stats, i´m totally sure my party would get crushed hard by 2 of them, yet they seem to give small experience. Well, in fact the Dragon´s 12 XP seems a bit underwhelming for a monster that can quadruple the amount of successes of your starting party.
Any ideas?
By the way. This game is awesome and has potential to be even better. Who do we have to drag out of the rabbit hole to work back on it?

ooops, sorry for the late response.
Yes, the XP values seem inappropriate because they haven't been playtested enough - which is why they are missing a Level entry (though sometimes we argue whether or not they actually need to have that spelled out). I use the Heroes' Advancement table as a guideline to determine monster level: take the Heroes limit to their stats per Level, add +1 to +3 to account for equipment and abilities and see how tough a Hero can be on given level.
For instance, on level 07, Heroes may have a maximum of 6 on any single stat. So a dedicated defender (always maxes DEF) will have DEF somewhere between 6+3=10. Compare to the monster's ATK to see if it is a reasonable challenge. It's not accurate, but I usually consider you get 1 success for each 3 dice you roll.
Orcs are meant to be middle level foes, that's why they have high stats. Your newbie heroes may face one or two alone, but a full horde is something to be feared. Dragons however are higher tier challenges. But nothing stops you from creating your own version (like an elite level 10 goblin, why not?). Always have fun!
