Hey all
Here is the background I am working on for a possible online Quique game here on the forums.
EC 2670
250 terran years ago humanity lost a devastating war with an alien race. Not only did they lose the war they also lost Earth. The alien victors threw humanity from its cradle and scattered them unprepared, to the cruel stars. Humanity had just begun exploring beyond their own system with primative deep space vessels. Humanity had no knowledge of FTL travel and little knowledge of the outer universe and its inhabitants. Plunged into uncaring universe, humanity was forced to try and adapted.
Now humanity roams the stars, homeless, in makeshift vessels scrapped together from various bits of technology they do not comprehend to survive. Humanity has found many was to survive. The bulk of humanity exists in several massive Nomad fleets. These fleets are allied into a loose confederation, that handles basic trade, protection and governing of ths fleets. The fleets move to an area and remain harvesting what resources they can until something runs them off. Within the fleets a massive Reclaimation movement is forming. It sole purpose is to reclaimthe earth from the alien race that took it. The Reclaimers have organized their own fleets and militias and are begining attacks. These radicals are bringing the wrath of the alien race down onto all of humanity. The nomad fleets are coming under attack more and more, and are being forced to stay on the move, making resources in the fleets more and more scarce.
The secnod largest deposit of humans is in stationary habits known as drifts. The drifts are a harsh and dangerous place. They usually exist because of an agreement with an alien race for their being there. This agreement usually makes the drift a vassal, giving manual labor and resources to the protecting race.
The rest of humanity is scatted in smaller clusters. These are independant groups either roaming to stars, or inhabiting some small station or even a terran body. Not all of these groups are friendly to other humans, many are thieves and pirates, the worse are the cannibals.
