Hey guys. The Village Ruleset is nearing a tentative Beta-release, but I was wondering if any of you guys could help me think up a couple of things. The attached list is what I'm calling a Random Tavern Event Table. The idea behind this is that if the hero in question doesn't want to visit any of the other places available (Blacksmith, Alchemist, Job Board, etc), they can use one of their visits to instead head to the Tavern where something entirely random (i.e. good or bad) could happen to them instead. This was inspired mainly by Warhammer Quest. I was too young to play it when it came out (i.e. not born yet), but after reviewing the rules, I really enjoyed that aspect of it. The list has a good portion completed, and there are a few one-sentence lines for placeholders that I'm trying to figure out ruleswise, but I was wondering if any of you guys had any more ideas to add to this list? I'm trying to make it as balanced as possible, where the player has a choice on whether or not to participate in the event rolled (most of the time), but I could always use more input. And then once I get that done, I can start work on the Martial Arts supplement I'm working on. So many Dungeon Plungin' Add-On's to make! Thanks gents! - Starky Attachments:

Looks good so far. I remember on where you were challenged to a duel to the death; I won and got a magic sword out of it... Some more suggestions: • Orc arm-wrestling; Can lose and be injured, lose, draw, or win. • Someone slipped something into your drink... • Challenged to a duel (as mentioned above, though could be to the death or first blood...) • A pick-pocket. • A game of cards/tree shell monte... • Offered to have your fortune read; possibility of a boon or a curse... • Bartender has a new batch of beer/wine he wants to try out... • Bar brawl. • Offered a map to a treasure...

Cool! I really liked reading through those WHQ tables, just to get ideas. And they do look good, but d66 may be a lot to fill. Why not work with a smaller table? Consider grouping smaller/easier events into more than one number, so the most rewarding/harder events happen less frequently. Like, roll 1d6 for dificulty: 1-3 minor/easy 4-5 regular 6+ major/harder Then roll 1d6 to see which event you trigger (inside the dif you got) Anyway, I'll have to take a closer look before giving new input but I remember seeing something like this for the D&D boardgames (events for in-between adventures): ratdorg.blogspot.com/2011/02/d-adventure-system-campaigns-event-deck.htmlratdorg.blogspot.com/2011/02/d-adventure-system-event-deck-for-wrath_3645.htmlMaybe you can mine it for ideas

but d66 may be a lot to fill. Why not work with a smaller table? Actually Ultros64 only needs 10 more items and it should be a complete D66 table. The numbering is not quite correct in the document There is no 7,8, or 9 on the second digit of each entry Example: D66 11,12,13,14,15,16 21,22,23,24,25,26 31,32,33,34,35,36 41,42,43,44,45,46 51,52,53,54,55,56 61,62,63,64,65,66 I am really liking what I see so far.

Yeah, Shaun is right. I only need a handful more. I was just kind of listing them without really applying them to a table yet. But glad to hear that everyone is approving of it so far. I was hoping to throw in a few more 'singular' events, where something special can happen to a hero to sort of separate him from the rest of the group (like the CURSED BLADE event). But I also don't want to make it too complicated, as the reason why DP is so great is that it's so approachable and fast. I like the duel idea Kaj! Maybe you could make opposed ATK/DEF strikes against an opponent and whoever inflicts the most wounds wins? I don't think I'd have the person die or anything (seems a little harsh for a random events table), but maybe they'd have to spend the remainder of their visit recovering rather than visiting any other stores. And Beto - I love Ninjadorg's card system! I always thought Ravenloft was kind of blah until I started using those cards (and a new leveling system... and a Castlevania supplement... who said you could have too many supplements?). The Minor/Medium/Major event setting would be nice, but I think I just want to keep it to rolling on just a singular table. Most of my events have everyone rolling twice anyway (once for the event, and again for the effect), so throwing in even more tables to roll on might bog it down a bit. And Shaun - dig your game boss. I dig it a lot. I'm pumped for the next edition and so is everyone in my group! Always nice to hear when the brains behind a game you like approves of your add-on's. Right on brudda. Thanks for the feedback guys! I'm meeting up with a group at the LGS tonight, so hopefully we can finish up the list and I can put a big shiny beta sticker on the Village Rules and release it! ... and then start working on my other ideas. XD

Seeing this was a WQ result, IIRC, the duel was resolved with a dingle d6 roll with 1 = you're dead and 6 = you win, or something like that... Of course not wanting to have duels to the death is understandable So you could have something that looks a bit like this: 1) Lost and wounded, cannot visit anymore town locations. 2-3) Lost. 4-5) Win, opponent gives you 10 GP. 6) Win, opponent gives you minor (insert some prize here)...
