I am continuing a thought from my post to Mahotsukai. It is hard without PW. I am not saying Oversoul or myself is in danger of stopping paper minis or anything. I am just saying I really LOOKED forward to logging onto PW daily to see what was going on. PW was a great community. We had a swelling membership, with a rather high active membership. We all got along, we really never needed a moderator, or had any real conflicts that did not resolve themselves.
Steve was the world's BEST administrator. He gave his time and his money willingly. You had a problem, he eliminated it or at least made it easier. He was about the community and his administration of it was almost undectable in the background. Which to me is how it should be. To many times a site becomes about the admin and everyone else is suppose to be there to ooooh and ahhh the admin's posts, not Steve.
I like Claudio's site and I have nothing but good things to say for what it is, but it is not the PW community I remember or would like to see return.
Is there any way that community could be rebuilt? I do not feel right letting it pass and saying "It was good while it lasted" I still have hope. I still carry a candle for it. So again I ask can we revive it in someway?

It'll take money, and somebodies time.
Steve put a LOT of his own money into this. I know it can be done for less than he was paying out, that was part of the reason the server was being moved.
Has anyone looked into the hosting costs of such a site.
Then someone has to look into maintaining the site. Steve did a LOT of that too.
The world/net is a poorly place without him about.
On that line of thinking, I dont suppose he's got a blog anywhere, I'd look myself but I dont know his full name.

Standard URL hijacking! I have seen it done to quite a few sites. An Advertising company finds a popular URL that has gone belly up. Buys the domain name. Sells advertising or link space to the URL using the "site hits" figures of the original site. "We get 5,000 hits per day. See our figures for the June/September 2006 quarter. We will only charge you $500 per month to advertise on our our site" blah blah blah!! By keeping similar subject matter (especially if the name suggests it) they may even get a few sales etc. for their new customers. But now someone else has the DN for paperworlds, I doubt it will ever reappear.

Um, might sound silly, but why not make it here?
What is the problem? you already have a forum it's organized you moderate it it has good people
outside of publicity, what more do you need?
Just curious!

I have thought of something similar. Mainly buying a url, something like paper-universe.dot. Then setting up a forum and other cool stuff and let everyone post away. But I honestly do not know if I have the time to give it the attention it deserves.
As to why not make it here. This site was set up to support and help us create games. The games we do actually do all fit together in some sort of warped ideology. Cartoony, simple, and put the fun and nostalgia back into gaming, for aging gamers with families. More or less(feel free to chime in guys with a better definition, yall know how I suck putting it into words)
While we full support the paper gaming scene, it does not always support us. We do not mind some of yalls contributions, especially in the form of using our games. Nor do we mind ideas that do not use our games as a base, but if they differed too much from that ideology we probably would not allow it.

This same topic has come up repeatedly on both the Brabantini yahoo group and at Paperworlds.papermakeit.com and imho the old PW is gone and is never coming back. The collaborative community spirit continues though in lovely places like Oversoul games and the aforementioned group and forum. If it's the old DL section people miss, there are plenty of people like me who copied everything and still have all of the old material and provide it when folks come asking about it.
