Just a passing thought i wanna get out before i forget it, what if we were to play DP with flat characters against a flat surface, like a cartoon. ie left and right movment only, would need some sort of "depth guage" to cover in and out of course. oh now im degenerating into a game you could lay out in cards, like in turns to make a side on dungeon, if players had seperate decks, could be competitive/coperative. also place in group would really matter ie no casting fireball from the back, or then again if i did and treasure was all mine why not? like i said had to get it out

I know exactly what you mean. I started off by drawing these as a kid many decades ago. I used large posterboard and had rooms drawn much like the panels of a cartoon. At one stage I had several poster sized cross sections that covered a whole table lengthways. Many a rainy day did I spend drawing all sorts of details onto the star wars themed one I started after watching the first movie in the late 70's. Ahh the good old days!

The idea is great, but there would be a lot of work to create the rules. (And possibly a lot of playtesting) At least a lot of the figure artwork is done, we would just need to do the room artwork!!
I think star wars caused a lot of themed games. I remember wasting a whole exercise pad on x-wing vs tie fighter duels. A pencil and paper game, where you took turns drawing the move of your ship and used a ruler for firing (5cm I think). You quickly learnt to move perpendicular to the lines, as 6 rows or less meant you were in range and made it easier to line your ship up. I only threw that pad out a couple of years ago. I agree - the good old days!
