Greetings everyone,
I had been working on a paper figure generator idea for a while now and since it is the holidays I figured it would be a great time to share it.
By now everyone should know that I enjoy Patrick Crusiau's figures and I tend to do modifications on them exclusively. Part of my reasoning was that a large selection of free similar designed figures would appeal to a larger range of miniature gamers. Which might make paper figures more agreeable to those die hard metal/plastic mini lovers. Patrick would design some master figures, I would create some mods and others would do the same. Creating a mathmatical figure explosion that could not be accomplished by one person alone providing their precious time and skills to provide a free product to the masses.
The work everyone here has done, as well as many other artists has helped shed a more desirable light on using paper figures for sure!
However, I am also still trying (begging, pleading, cajoling, tempting and challenging) to interest new people in this retro hobby. I am constantly being driven to find new ways to attract future designers/conversionists. Since this can only legally and rightfully be done with the artists permission, I have specifically chosen Patrick's work.
My idea was to create a free set of multiple figure part templates that new artists could then manipulate to create a multitude of similar figures. Therebye freeing up my time to create new parts for more new figures. Obviously the concept requires audience participation. The more the merrier! It also requires a sizable amount of work space.
For that reason I am going to temporarily post the files to my personal web space and ask interested individuals to join a yahoo group site.
Since this could be construed as hijacking members away from your site I will not continue further unless I recieve your permission to do so. I do believe Bryn and I had once discussed this idea/project some time back, though not for on your forum.
Till then - Best regards and Happy Holidays! Historygamer2
