I assume pushback only makes sense with adjacent melee attacks and not ranged attacks?
The manna staff has a range of 8. This is a kind of magical force attack (or just a sling staff with the ability to put some force behind bullets?) of some sort, correct? Basically I want to make sure it is not a typo.
Spells that do damage often list a +# to attack, like +2. Does the mage roll attack +2 or do they roll magic +2 in the attack?

In addition, for a simple damage spell, does the defender get to roll a DEF or RES if it is unspecified?

I assume pushback only makes sense with adjacent melee attacks and not ranged attacks? You are correct, ignore pushback for ranged attacks. Yes, the Manna staff has a magical attack that can be used in melee or point the staff at the enemy and blast them from a distance!! Currently it is Attack +2. In addition, for a simple damage spell, does the defender get to roll a DEF or RES if it is unspecified? No the defender doesn't get a DEF or RES unless it is specified. However, I am aware that some rules do not make a lot of sense to some people, so feel free to make changes or add new rules to address situations which you would prefer to handle differently!
