We here at Oversoul games, were always going to expand the Dungeon Plungin' rules into other genres than Fantasy. Pulp Adventures in the Tombraider style Sci-Fi along the Space Hulk lines Maybe even Ghost hunters (Scooby doo???) etc. However we thought we should get the basic rules working first. Looking at all the great ideas that have been coming to light lately, I am wondering if we should just bite the bullet and see how we go. It would be a shame to miss out on opportunites you can provide. I can do square grid tiles fairly easily now. (I have a pile of templates and layered graphics). So that part would not be a lot of work for me to do. So give us your ideas - see if we can get a consensus - and lets start a fan based project!! ;D

Seeing no-one has posted anything yet, I would like to ask Shadowolf a question: What enemies or encounters were you thinking of for your Salvage crew?

Pulp Adventures in the Tombraider style Sci-Fi along the Space Hulk lines Maybe even Ghost hunters (Scooby doo???) etc. I really like this idea. I hadn't thought of expanding the rules past the basic fantasy line... I'm going to have some time next week (the kids are going to be on spring break and at their grandparents) and I was going to print up a bunch of the new figures... I'll print some of the newer ones and see if 'the muse hits me'. Off the top of my head, though, the Ghost Hunters seems like it would be the hardest to come up with. For the others you have basic melee and ranged weapons. But what would you have for Ghost Hunters? Scooby and the gang never used weapons...

No but they did/do often come up with ingenious traps (A-team style) in order to 'capture' the 'monster/ghost/man in a rubber suit'. Don't forget about 'Goober and the Ghost chasers' either, I used to love that cartoon as a kid..........

god you try to paste a quote and hit post b4 you have a chance to add your own text....what a dolt! lol The salvage crew I had thought about rival crews working for smaller companies delving into drifting hulks looking for anything to sell. The encounters could be about tracking down the source of strange sensor readings, fighting off another crew...maybe not human and also the usual 'aliens' type bad guys rather than the GW type ones. I have been sketching some big headed cartoon style aliens...a queen would make a great boss fight as would taking back a live alien for the bio weapons research division. Oh and some old style robots could be leftover guard systems. I have thought about adding a few stats such as tech skill and mechanical skills for those occasions when hacking computers or repairing/ welding doors etc might be useful. I didn't want to make them the typical heavy marines killing all in their path ...more of a ragtag civilian crew trying to make an honest credit or two...of course every crew needs a gun wielding loony in its midst who wants to blow everything up and a tank top wearing female who always seems to survive the movie Gotta work on a salvage breaching pod as an entry tile though Regards, Paul

No but they did/do often come up with ingenious traps (A-team style) in order to 'capture' the 'monster/ghost/man in a rubber suit'. Yes, exactly. That may take a little bit of thought on how to change up the attack and defense rules. Instead of just 'whacking' away at a monster, you may have to set your own traps and try to lure a creature into it. Maybe a character with the Disarm Stat would create traps instead of disarming them? Don't forget about 'Goober and the Ghost chasers' either, I used to love that cartoon as a kid.......... Wow. I had forgotten all about that one. I can picture the dog, but can't really remember much about the cartoon. Do you remember The Ghostbusters? Not the cartoon version, but the live-action version with Forrest Tucker, Larry Storch, and Tracy the Gorrilla? That was a very similar themed show, too. At least as well as I can pull it up in memory after not seeing it for 30 some-odd years.

The figures look excellent and I really love the Alien, it is a beauty. How about this for a quick "Abandoned Hulk' floor tile design? Do you think it would suit your Aliens & Salvagers?

Oh yeah thats what I'm talkin about! Very nice indeed.
You could even do corridoors in a darker tone to distinguish rooms. Even a few floor spaces where alien acid has eaten away the flooring.
Did you do the doors for the scenario packs?

I have been thinking more about a sci fi version myself. Mainly how to convert some of the themes from the standard DP into scifi. Fountains of Healing would be Regen tanks. Gates would be Internal Teleporter Units, traps would be internal defensive measures and so on.
The standard Dungeon crawl would still work as well. Landing on a deserted planet and penetrating lost alien ruins for tech and treasure.
I was also considering the idea of upgradable and really wacky weapons imoblizing gelatanoues shell launcher and ionic demoleculizers

Please please, I love that alien!
Here's a thought, perhaps you could use aliens from many sources.
Alien ( you've done ) Predator ( obvious next one ) E.T. ( E.T. with a ray gun! ) Enemy Mine
... ok so now I've run out of ideas.
